a friend of mine recently picked up a set of old catcher's equipment-shin guards, chest protector, and mask.

the shin guards are marked with cal neeman's facsimile signature. in doing some research, i was surprised to see that there are actually store model neeman catcher's mitts out there--considering he only played a handfull of games in the MLs. does anyone know if retail model shin guards would have been sold too? im guessing anything is possible, but some searching produced nothing.

i was looking through some pics last night and found a couple of neeman with similar markings on his shin guards.

the chest protector doesnt have any markings on it...or she said that it does, but it's too worn to read. the mask is a wilson A9906 model, which i know was sold at retail

im assuming this is just someone's old stuff from the 50s or 60s, but she just wanted to be certain

any help would be appreciated.
