Re: Help photo matching a Michael Morse bat
I did a quick search for you and came up with similar info....looks like he used a chandler up until his injury.....tar looks to be his use so it may have been used earlier in the season I suppose and collected late.

Re: Help photo matching a Michael Morse bat
Thanks for the help the bat has a 6/18/13 date on the knob. it was authenticated the day before he participated in a simulation game and weeks before his first rehab game (7/25). It seems unlikely that it was used in bp because it is lightly used. The grain is separated, do you know what would cause that?

Re: Help photo matching a Michael Morse bat
Grain checking usually occurs from repeated contact on the barrel..not uncommon for this to occur with drills...soft toss, tee work (usually black smudges occur on the backside of barrel). Before bats were passed out from numerous manufacturers players would tape the barrel of heavily used bats for batting practice....now it's less common but still occurs.
