Re: The Kansas City Royals game used thread
Here is my second Raul Mondesi bat. It is authenticated to KC AT BOS on August 28, 2016. Raul faced Eduardo Rodriguez in a 6 pitch battle that ended with a 95.5 MPH four-seam fastball being hit to SS Xander Bogaerts who was able to through him out at first base. The bat met its match on that pitch and nearly snapped in half. That is not the exciting part of this bats life though.
On August 24, 2016 the Royals were in Miami playing against the Marlins. Jose Fernandez was pitching that night. Raul went 1-3 against Jose. I have photo matched this bat to all three of those at bats. In his very first at bat against Jose he hit the first pitch he saw, a 94.8 MPH fastball, to CF Marcell Ozuna for a single. That would be his first and only hit off of Jose Fernandez and is his 14th career hit. In his next at bat against Jose he would pop out on a 95.2 MPH four-seam fastball to 3B Martin Prado. His final at bat against Jose Fernandez he strikes out swinging at an 85.4 MPH curveball in a four pitch at bat. That strike out would be Jose's 211th of the season adding on to the Marlins single season strike out record he established an inning earlier by striking out Alex Gordon. #RIPJF16.
