    Jacksonville Jaguars game used helmet?

    Hey guys -

Picked this up this morning at a local "Play it again sports" location in the Nashville area, and got a good enough deal on it it was worth a shot.

Photos are attached and I've tried to style match and photo match it but am not sure what era it's from - it was reconditioned in 2006 per the sticker inside the pads, but no code on the facemask (made by Schutt)

Can anyone help me on what to look for? It's a Riddell helmet and strap.

    Appreciate any input!

    If it helps...

Players who have worn that number are as follows:

    Greg Huntington (1995),
    Todd Fordham (1997- 2002)
    Elton Patterson (2004, 06)
    Martin Chase (2005)
    Tutan Reyes (2007-08)
    Jordan Black (2009-10)
    Cameron Bradfield (2011-12)

If I had an educated guess, I think it is Martin Chase who wore the helmet. But that's why I have faith someone else can point me in the right direction

What is the model number in the helmet? If it's a VSR-4 or something like that, it's highly doubtful it was used later than 2002 or so, since those helmets were deemed as basically useless in preventing head injuries.

Having trouble finding a model number because there's so much padding, but there is in fact a facemask code (DJA) - which if I remember correctly should be April 2001, yet this helmet was recertified in 2006. Based on pics I looked at (some were terrible quality), the closest style match I could find was Martin Chase, as Todd Fordham's helmets seemed to have a strip directly down the middle of the helmet.

Cool pickup! The helmet itself is a Schutt ProAir II, not a Riddell VSR-4.

Why is there a Riddell chin strap?

The chin strap looks new in the pictures provided. Could it have been added?

Any chance of getting a picture of the right side?

Try Getty Image 55319016. Year 2005. Looks like Martin Chase. Not uncommon for an NFL player wearing a Schutt helmet with a Riddell chin strap. His chin strap in the image is blue print Riddell.

Preston, look under the cheek pads and see if you read the series of numbers…post these and we may be able to date the shell. Looks like some numbers too on the face mask clips…what are they?

DFA - is April 2001 date of manufacture. Has shock blocker clips on the sides it appears, to me a good sign…if recertified in 2006…look at game pictures in 2005, 2006 and 2007…the numbers on the face mask clips will narrow down the years too - cool find!

I've been able to match a helmet worn in a prior year than the recertification sticker date is why I said look at 2005.
