Finder's Fee?

So, I'm admittedly new to the sports memorabilia game. I've collected a few items on my own, but for the first time I've had someone helping me find a particular item i've been looking for. I was wondering, should I pay this person a finder's fee since they are responsible for finding the item and coordinating the purchase?

It depends what and how rare you are are looking for.
This site is great because many members may have what you are lookng for without having to pay a finders fee. Have you tried to use the classifieds?

I would use a finders fee only to locate the rare item. I would want to do my own negotiation. How do you know your "finder" won't add another fee to the final purchase price? I don't even trust my relatives. LOL
