SCP's Summer Auction
Hi forum,
I'm new here so I'd like to say hi to everyone. I am strictly a game used collector who is interested in game used items from the 4 major sports (sorry soccer fans).
Anything catch your eye in SCP's current summer auction?
I'd really love to win the Gretzky '89-90 Kings jersey, but it's unlikely. I'd probably have to sell my main form of transportation to pick that one up.
I look forward to making new hobby friends here. And ask you all to kindly refrain from bidding on items I'm after. (just kidding of course)

Re: SCP's Summer Auction
Here's an interesting one.
http://catalog.scpauctions.com/2014-...-LOT28534.aspx
It says "2014 Los Angeles Dodgers white home jersey game worn by 1983 Rookie phenom Yasiel Puig."
He wasn't born until December 7, 1990, but he was an MLB rookie phenom 8 years prior. Man, this cat's good!

Re: SCP's Summer Auction
I was interested in the Reggie White rookie helmet. But if you look at the pics from his rookie year they don't seem to match the style he wore. Isn't 1985 the only year he wore number 91?

Re: SCP's Summer Auction
I always get a good laugh out of seeing an LOA from Grey Flannel. This jersey has one:

Was this "expert opinion" by Richard Russek rendered before or after the "People's Court" debacle?
Regarding the jersey, does anyone have another 1993 home Mariners jersey to compare the year tagging to? Is this a legit style of tagging? My knowledge of jerseys is limited, but I believe Griffey Jr. at this time in his career was issuing Mill Creek LOA's with his stuff. I don't see one accompanying this jersey.
Thanks for any feedback,
Chris

I noticed they changed the description of the Reggie White. "ADDENDUM: STYLE OF FACEMASK INDICATES HELMET IS FROM 1990 REGULAR SEASON, DESCRIPTION UPDATED ACCORDINGLY AND STYLE-MATCHING PHOTOS ADDED."
In 1990 he wore the style of chin strap that buckled at the top. How is the strap on this helmet going to buckle at the top?

Careful with their hockey stuff. I was impressed withe the Kirk McLean helmet and posted such on the hockey GW Facebook page. They tore me a new one, tore the auction a new one and shredded nearly all the jerseys.

Re: SCP's Summer Auction
It could be because most of the hockey items are from the Newport Sports Museum?
The owner of that museum is just like anyone else who has collected for years. He was trusting when buying many pieces, bought many bad items, and they are now being recirculated. The only difference now is there is a lot more knowledge about memorabilia out there today and lots of this "bad" stuff is being exposed.
