    ASI Shaun Alexander

On the ASI Website, in the Museum section is a Shaun Alexander 2004 game used jersey with lots of hit marks.

Only problem is, the nameplate does not match the font used by the team. Note the skinny "A" as compared to the real jersey.

We have seen this issue before with a PSI jersey discussed here

The close up shots show hit marks. Where did they come from if this nameplate font was never used?

I have asked ASI about this many times and have never received a response. But it's good enough that they have put it in their ASI museum

    Re: ASI Shaun Alexander

    eric,

the entire font is incorrect. not only is it noticeable in the "A" but also in the "X". given that the nfl season is so relatively short and getty has photos of practically every single game from 2005, it's very odd that nobody can find a single image of the seahawks using this font. www.gameexclusives.com has a formal agreement to receive the seahawks gamers and none of their jerseys seem to have this odd font.

despite the apparent rarity of this font, PSI, ASI and Historic Auctions all have 2005 Shaun Alexander jerseys bearing this odd font. what are the odds that all 3 seem to be the only ones with these incorrect jerseys? you've shown the one in the "ASI Museum" and provided the link to a thread discussing one for sale by PSI. here is one just auctioned off by Historic:

    http://www.historicauctions.com/sear...ctionid/33909/

note that the one just auctioned off by Historic has a different, albeit still incorrect font. The "A" is different (and still incorrect).

ASI begat Expert Sports Authentication which includes bernie gernay who heads PSI and authenticates for Historic Auctions.

    Re: ASI Shaun Alexander

wow Eric. Nice work. The font on the retail jersey is a perfect match. So I guess that's how it's done: get a blank pro jersey, rip the nameplate off a retail jersey and presto. Seems sloppy though doesn't it? Why not just letter it properly?

Anyway, i just noticed this thread:

    http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_f...ead.php?t=1213

ASI offers a 2004 Matt Hasselbeck jersey that bears the exact same incorrect font as these 2005 Shaun Alexanders. (Original Ebay auction:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=8759294286 )

(Boy, if i didn't know better, I'd swear they're coming from the same source and it's not the Seahawks).

The Hasselbeck shows significant "use" in addition to having the nameplate literally sewn on the shoulders (nice work guys). So somehow ASI managed to get Seahawks jerseys with retail fonts and oddly enough, both PSI and Historic also managed to offer Seahawks "gamers" with the same incorrect, retail fonts.

Here is yet another thread with ASI offering a 2004 Alexander jersey with the same, incorrect, retail font:
    http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_f...ead.php?t=1254

In short, this is a font so rare that nobody can find a picture of the Seahawks wearing it. As rare as it is however, ASI has offered 3 jerseys with it, PSI has offered at least 1, and Historic has offered at least one 1.
5 superstar jerseys bearing a font that nobody can find a photo of other than on retail jerseys.

Anyway, Eric you asked how this 2005 Alexander in the ASI Museum acquired its use. Perhaps Bernie put on one of his fabulous short-sleeved Peyton Manning jerseys (the ones that constantly appear in Historic Auctions) and Brad Wells put on this Alexander and the two of them tussled, greco-roman style.

    Re: ASI Shaun Alexander

don't most, if not all, teams have the name-plate material the same as the shoulder material?...the name-plate on these Alexanders are made of mesh...I can't remember the last time that any team had mesh shoulder material since the early 90's or so

after seeing the fonts on these pictures it just blows my mind that not only people keep getting screwed by these guys, but these crooks haven't been busted yet!!!!!

Honest mistakes happen.......but constant mistakes may be a pattern....to be a crook you have to show criminal intent and actually be convicted....

Are these companies ever going to get in trouble? The threads on this forum show fake after fake jersey coming from the same parties.
