Value of Dwight Stephenson GU Alabama Jersey

I have the opportunity make an offer on a 1978 Dwight Stephenson Alabama jersey. Could any of you give me an estimate on about what it is worth? It comes from a very trusted source. I have seen his Dolphins jerseys bring from 590 to 1200.

Just my opinion, but I believe the value would be equal to, or slightly less, than a Dolphins jersey -- I think the demand for his Dolphins jerseys are greater than for the Alabama shirt.

Of course, if the Alabama jersey shows nice use, has customizations and can be photo-matched, then any of those three things would make it more desirable. It sounds like an intriguing item and I'm sure many of us here would love to see some pics of it!

I have a large Alabama game worn jersey and helmet collection and several are older ones as well. I can tell you from my experience the offensive linemen typically go much cheaper. For instance I paid 150 for Andre smith and 250 for Barrett jones and chance Warmack. All 3 are all Americans but the Stephenson is much older and from the Bryant era so I would say 1200-1500 max. Thanks guys. I got it for $550. I saw today on ebay a Bama Derrick Thomas jersey sold for 1000. The guy was asking 5000. I think it was cheap at a grand.

Regarding the Thomas, it didn't seem to show much wear. If I remember correctly (I looked at it a couple of weeks ago), it had a story for provenance, but I don't think it had a letter. On that note, try to get a letter for your jersey.... If it is from a very trusted source like you say, it will definitely help the jersey hold its value (probably more than you paid for it!)
