Re: NFL Auction Prices Are Nuts!

There are people out there that never want a game used jersye to go to a "middle man" there was a derrick brooks jersey sold by Brooks himself on ebay that sold for over $2,000! I emaile dthe 2nd highest bidder (bid $1900) and I have a PHOTO matched derrick brooks gamer with the game on dvd, Grey flannel and lou lampson COA (for what lou's worht anymore), and it had 14 team repairs. I offered the jersey to the guy for $675.

He declined not becuase he questioned authenticity, but he said he is willing to pay signficantlyl more if he gets the jersey DIRECTLY from the athelete. I told him that it WAS NOT brooks who listed the auction but HIS CHARITY which was a 3rd party, he didn't see it that way though.

    ---

Alsow ith NFl Auctions there are so many amatures to this hobby and they think that what they have is VERY Unique and getting from the NFl is the only way you get get a jersey and not willing to do any of their own leg work and find one themselves. Man, if I was a ravens fan/colelctor I would be IRATE at those fools paying that ridiculous amount. You think that after 4 years of Nfl auctions on ebay and now their own site that a lot of these people would ge weeded out after they see that the market continues to GROW if not every year, every day...

    Historical Football History

This forum has exposed the bogus NFL jerseys sold by a certain auction house. These jerseys sold for high prices. It only makes sense that NFL auction's jerseys would demand a premium. Bogus jerseys raise the price of legitimate jerseys. Modern NFL jerseys are the biggest joke in the business... err hobby.
Think about the naive' souls that are fooled by a slick website and LOAs from psuedo-experts. Short-sleeved Mannings under a Christmas tree? Pro-cuts with contrived use? Post Christmatic Stress Disorder!

A kicker's game used jersey for $3,005 + shipping. Are you kidding me!!! Even has some dirt on the back of the jersey (hmmmm) I hope the buyer never intends to re-sell!!!!!!

Based on these prices, my collection just tripled in value (lol).

I was thinking that some of these buyer's plan on writing off the Fair Market Value of these items as a Charitable Deduction, but if you read the description on most of these auctions it reads:

Please note: No charitable deductions will be offered for the items.

Re: NFL Auction Prices Are Nuts!

I just emailed NFL auctions, asking about their maurice stovall "GAME CUT" jersey.... and asked ons sizing this is what they wrote, stating that it was merely and AUTHENTIC JERSEY!

NFL Auctions write (as I asked on sizing I can forward this email to anyone inquiring)

No this is a different jersey and I am not sure of the size most likely a 48 or 50..These are not cut in a particular player's size but they are authentic and we just have them signed....We do not sell as game used or issued...

That's hilarious---why do they advertise as GAME CUT. Why do they have collar tagging???? I guess they don't care that dozens are being bought and resold as autographed GAME USED '05!!!!

Exclamation Re: NFL Auction Prices Are Nuts!

Hi Eric and GUU , I think the title of your thread should be NFL Auction Prices and some of their Bidders are Nuts !

I have watched a lot of football games and not too often does the kicker even come close to contact?? Let alone fall on the ground and get dirt on his back . There's no dirt in field turf ! The kickers stay so clean that they could serve drinks ,snacks and give back rubs between kicks . I have read an article in the St. Pete Times some of the Buc's players get Man-i-cures now , that would give the kickers something else to do .

Joking aside , for these kind of prices the NFL should have the game used jerseys come w/a photo-matched 8 x 10 picture (w/frame) and have all gamers dated what game(s) they were used . I noticed some have the game date others just say 2006 . What's up with the high bids on game cut signed jerseys??????is game cut just a fancy word for replica jersey ?????

CHECK THIS OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Stovall jersey is a home Ravens, right? Well then go to www.baltimoreravens.com/facilities/ and read about their Sportexe Momentum Turf with sand and rubber infill . Where did the dirt come from then???????????????????

The Stovall A.K.A. Stover jersey is described on the auction as a Home jersey. Even if they were playing next door at Camden Yards on the infield it is highly unlikely a kicker would have dirt on the back of his jersey.

The $3005 ending price has to be a record for a current kicker. Maybe it would make sense if it was worn in a record setting game or something.

I do agree with your title idea---NFL Auction Prices and some of their Bidders are Nuts !
