Great Gwynn bat Rod. Photo matched to his first All-Star season and Pads first WS season, most likely the only photo matched bat from that season if not from the '80's.

Thanks Nick! And I appreciate you posting it on your site. It looks much nicer on there, haha.

Thanks R.C. I picked it up last year and it makes up for all the Gwynn bats I let go of over the years and miss having. I ended up getting the Sporting News cover framed and eventually I'll get a matching Homeplate Heroes single bat case to display the bat with it.

Beginning in 2000, the Padres began wearing camouflage jerseys on Military Opening Day. They are now worn for Military Opening Day and for every Sunday home game. Would like to see a Navy blue digital at some point.

As promised, here are the four different jerseys with the Tony Gwynn and Jerry Coleman Memorial patches worn last year.

Even as a backup backstop, the wear on this jersey is tremendous. The material is almost worn through where the catcher's gear hooks up.

Would you consider trading/selling this jersey? Shoot me an email me at vincebaran@aol.com

Re: The Official SAN DIEGO PADRES GU Thread

This one's dedicated to my Dad. He took me to my first two Padre games in 1974. Wouldn't you know, Dave Friesleben started both games . . . .

Here's Dave Friesleben's 1974 home jersey. Of course no way of knowing if he was wearing it, but I'd like to think he did. Not matter. This is my favorite style.

What a great jersey! And thanks for sharing the memories. Very cool that the jersey helps preserve them for you.

Wish the Pads had stayed with the brown and yellow, which gave them a color scheme unique to MLB. Unless a timeless classic, I don't mind when teams update their uniforms but I think it's a shame when teams change their colors.

Great jersey, R.C. Loved this style in 1976 and 1977 (with the V-neck pullover style) too. I 2nd going back to this style....

Thanks. Whether it's a favorite player, a dynamic player or was a Hot Dog (example to follow someday) most if not all my jerseys have some meaning or memory attached to it.

You are correct about the brown and yellow. Those distinctive colors were associated with the Padres. Much like the green and gold of the Athletics. Someday the brown will return. . . .
