    Need help with this hat

    Greetings to all members,
Wondering if anyone can help with a Yankees hat I just picked up. Is this tagging consistent with Yankee gamers? Hat shows good use and is fitted. No number or name written on brim or anywhere else. Size tag is intact, there is another tag but it has been cut off. As always any help is greatly appreciated.

That tag is like those found in pro model Yankees caps during the late 1980's. The tag that has been removed could either be the size (in which case it would be small-1/2 inch) or a "Diamond Collection" tag (larger-about 1 inch) in which case the cap would be from the late 1980's-early 90's. In any case, it appears to tagged like the pro caps. The Yankees typically wrote the players numbers under the brims of those that were used in games. Hope this helps.

Excellent info Mike. This hat is on the smaller side measuring in at 7 1/8. perhaps a bat boy hat. Thanks for taking time to respond.

forget the early 90s. new era became a "diamond collection" licensee around 1991 and as such, incorporated the "diamond collection" tag in their hats around that time. mid-late 80s is a good guess i think.
