Rawlings Official NFL Rozelle Football

So, I just picked this up on eBay. It intrigued me because I thought Wilson was the only supplier of official NFL footballs. If anyone has any info on this I'd appreciate it.

I've seen a few of these pop up over the years; believe these were prototypes. You're correct, Wilson has been the sole supplier of NFL game balls since the '40s, so a Rawlings ball shouldn't technically exist. That said, prototypes and samples frequently make it out into the market, so there's a lot of items out there that 'shouldn't' exist.

The 'K' is interesting, though. Perhaps these were issued to a few teams to test in practice, and this particular one was tagged for kicking. Just a theory...
