    Beware of Ebay Seller Jenni7012

    Hello community,

I just wanted to let you know of my bad experience with the ebay seller Jenni7012.

In the first place I missed out on this Game Worn Ronnie Brown Miami Dolphins jersey. Since the jersey has not been sold I contacted the seller and asked him if he plans to relist the jersey. We exchanged a couple of messages through ebay and I agreed to buy the jersey outside of ebay. I issued a paypal payment and he provided an USPS tracking number shortly after.

The tracking number has not been updated within the first 2 weeks (last update "Shipping Label created"). Therefore I contacted the seller. He responded that the package has been left on a truck and will be forwarded to me.

Another 2 weeks later still the same situation: No delivery, no update of the tracking number. This time however no response from the seller.

I then opened a claim with USPS. According to them the package has never been accepted at the local post office. The seller has created the shipping label just to get a tracking number!

Unfortunately I have issued the paypal payment by using the "Send money to friends" function. Due to that paypal does not let me open a claim.

Since I have the sellers real name plus the name and address of his business I consider further steps against him. Has anyone experienced a similiar situation? Any advices on further steps against the seller?

    Thanks,
    Spencer

Here is a question. Did you use a credit card to send the money ? Basically i run for the hills when people ask to use "friends and family" via paypal to send them money for an item. It is not worth the risk.

I think if you used your credit card and not the balance you could call your credit card company and dispute the charge.

Spencer in the future DO NOT ever use this option. always pay with a credit card. If the seller is serious and is honestly looking to sell an item they will understand. If not do not do the transaction.

Sorry to hear what happened to you. Sad that some people will do this to others. Sadly the person likely saw the opportunity and took advantage of you.

All I can say is this is a great example why no one should ever use the gift feature with strangers. When I buy I either haggle the price down to make up for fees or just suck it up and pay the "insurance" fees. What are the fees on a $500 jersey? $15? Quite the risk if you ask me.

That being said I don't know what more you could do. I bet you could sue the person and easily win with the emails etc....but at what cost would that be?

Call the police department in his area for theft.

I just sent the seller a question to see if the Jersey is still available for sale. I'll update with a reply. It will be interesting if they say yes.

              Spencer,
If you are in florida stealing 500$ via mail fraud would be grand theft. I would nicely let them know that is what is will happen.

The Internet Crime Complaint Center, or IC3, is the Nation’s central hub for reporting cyber crime. It is run by the FBI, the lead federal agency for investigating cyber crime.

Filing a complaint with the FBI Internet fraud division has worked for me in the past. It's even worked just by threatening to file a complaint.

The friends/family payment is far more dangerous for the seller. The buyer can file an unauthorized transaction complaint with paypal, they will automatically retrieve the $ from the seller. If the seller complains that they have proof it was a purchase and have emails, tracking #, etc. paypal won't care because you cut them out their % of the sale.

I am not sure of that statement.

If the seller has funds in their PayPal account. If they have already cashed it out, your out of luck.
