    1979 Cardinals

Did the 1979 St. Louis baseball Cardinals have their names on the back of their home jerseys? Thanks in advance. Terry

And numbers on the sleeves, not on the front.

Plus, I think Jeff will also attest to this: The 1978-81 era of the Cardinals will find a few gamers that were either 1978 front numbered jerseys with the front digits removed and sleeve numerals added for 1979, or the reverse with 1980 jerseys...sleeves stripped of numbers and numbers added to the front.

Absolutely. Recycling was common during that era. Heard a story last week about Joaquin Andujar's first Cardinals jersey; the team recycled another jersey and gave it to him to wear, and he was none too happy about it. Thought he deserved a new jersey. When the jersey's current owner got it signed by Joaquin, he got an earful about the jersey.
