Grey Flannel Selling Yankees Salvation Army Jerseys

    Hey everyone-

Just wanted to pass along that I noticed Grey Flannel was selling a few of the Yankees jersey worn in early September to support Katrina Relief. They have the MLB Authentication sticker. A few have sold but there are some left- Tino Martinez, Mariano Rivera, Mike Mussina, Aaron Small, Robinson Cano, Randy Johnson, and Hideki Matsui
It's the ones with these patches

Re: Grey Flannel Selling Yankees Salvation Army Jerseys

as many know, grey flannel received a ton of the 2005 katrina-patched gamers from steiner. i have to assume that, since they paid for them, any katrina-patched jerseys (issued or worn) not given to grey flannel would've been kept by steiner.

    according to grey flannel:
"The jerseys bearing the first-aid symbol seen above were game-used by the New York Yankees players and coaches during all 6 home games in Yankee Stadium during September 6th-11th. These game-used pinstriped jerseys are a true bargain as a result from a bulk purchase through our relationship with Yankees-Steiner Collectibles."

here is the yankees schedule for sept 6-11 2005:

    9/6 - vs tampa bay
    9/7 - vs tampa bay
    9/8 - vs tampa bay
    9/9 - vs boston
    9/10 - vs boston
    9/11 - vs boston

i cannot find any photos from the homestand against tampa bay. there are plenty of photos from the 3 game homestand against boston though. photos from 9/9 show the yankees wearing the katrina patch. however, here are photos from the 9/10 and 9/11 games:

no katrina patch. can anyone find any photos of the 9/6 - 9/8 games?

eric posted that grey flannel had the katrina-patched cano gamer, with mlb authentication, and they were selling it for $7500.

ASI is currently selling a katrina-patched cano gamer: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=180115272357

no steiner docs, no gfc docs, no mlb authentication. it does have a lampson loa, which oddly enough, completely fails to even mention that the jersey has a katrina patch. lampson's loa mentions that the jersey was sourced through "Yankees support staff personnel". Steiner might like knowing that the jerseys they've paid for are, according to Lampson, being swept out the back door.

the yankees didn't wear the katrina patch on 9/10 or 9/11. i don't know if they wore it during the earlier tampa bay homestand. i do know they wore it on 9/9. here are some shots of cano on 9/9, 9/10, 9/11:

none match the ASI jersey. i find it odd that brad wells states, about his katrina-patched cano, that "It's the only one we have seen hit the market." by "market" he must mean ASI's inventory. either that or he was completely unaware that GFC auctioned off a katrina-patched cano from steiner. apparently, brad's hobby knowledge is second to none.

i'd appreciate if seeing some photos of the tampa bay games to see if the yankees wore the katrina patch during those.

Interesting to note that the Cano jersey was offered in a previous Historic Auctions auction with a COA from Brad Wells at something called Expert Sports Authentication.

According to the Historic Auctions website, it sold with ten bids for $1491.40

It has found it's way to Brad Wells' company ASI, who is selling it now.

the cano jersey, authenticated by brad, in historic's previous auction is the exact same jersey currently being offered by brad via his ASI cover. every single pinstripe matches up perfectly on both jerseys - on the mlb logo, on the tagging, on the NYY crest, on the numbers, on the shoulder seams. current asi cano on the left, historic's cano on the right.

i'd like to point something out here; in mar 2006, i received an email from ASI offering some jerseys for sale. here is one of the jerseys offered in that email:

"Robinson Cano 2005 Game Used Home Jersey with Katrina Patch - $5999.99"

then in nov 2006, this jersey coincidentally winds up at brads..er..i mean james browns auction house, historic where it is "authenticated" by brad. imagine the sheer coincidence of a customer buying it from brad and then, of all the auction houses to choose from, they happen to choose historic where brad then authenticates his own jersey! unless of course, it never sold and was dumped into historic directly by ASI/brad...

now ASI/brad once again has it and is trying to sell it via ebay. again, the amazing coincidence that the high bidder in historic's auction then managed to turn around and sell it back to ASI. did brad ever manage to sell this thing? or did it just pass from brad to brad to brad? his current ebay ad states "It's the only one we have seen hit the market." is it that difficult to keep the lies straight? ASI/brad offered one in march 2006! then he authenticated one for historic in late 2006. now he's offering this same one again. either brad never sold this thing or there were several unhappy customers who kept returning it.

what a racket. brad and james, you two really are an embarassment to humanity.

    rudy.
