Heat pressed letters

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, so apologies in advance.

I have an NFL gamer with heat applied letters on the nameplate which are pealing off in the corners.

I've watched several YouTube videos where a medium hot iron is used over the top of regular printer paper to "glue" them back down.

Was wondering if anyone has had any experience, positive or negative, using this technique?
