    Best Pens for New Bats

What is the best pen/ink to use when getting a new bat signed?

Any advice about color which doesn't fade over time?

    Thanks!

Depends on the color of the bat. Pretty subjective. Usually black or brown bats are signed in silver or gold paint pen. Blonde bats are usually signed in blue or black sharpie or paint pen. My preference is blue sharpie on blonde. I'd stay away from silver sharpie, tend to streak and not look as bright.

I like blue on blonde the best, also. I also like black on blonde, but I've found over the years that black Sharpies sometimes dry up if left uncapped for too long waiting for the player to sign, making for a crappy result.

It was always believed that blue on blonde would eventually start fading over the years while black on blonde will not. Read this in the bat column expert columns in SCD way back. For this reason I've always had blonde or natural finished bats signed in black sharpie.
