    Autograph Ball Prep -bleeding

I got back into autographs a few years ago and I’m finally getting around to setting up a memorabilia room. As I was unpacking balls I noticed the autos on some had bled. I’ve read a ton about best pens, light and humidity in storage, best baseballs to use. But, my question or interest is on ball prep. Do you do anything to your ROMLB after purchase but before auto to help prevent bleeding?? Do you inspect the leather for anything in particular that you know will aid/hurt the signature? Also, do you store them in a way, after signature, to keep moisture out? Ziplock bag, shrink wrap?

Apologies in advance if this has been discussed. I searched briefly but didn’t find anything to address these questions.

I can be reached at sqzplay6@gmail.com as well. Thanks in advance.

What kind of pen are you using?

A variety of bics, but I think I’m going to have to go exclusively to bic cristal’s. When I first got back into signings I wasn’t particular about pens used at events. Then I started taking and using only bics. Now I’ll go bic cristals.
