    Stolen HOF signed baseballs

The Scottsdale Police Dept. has reported a group of 33 Hall of Famer-signed baseballs that were displayed from the popular area restaurant Don & Charlie's this past Wednesday.

The baseballs were displayed in a trophy case. The entire group, which included a signed Babe Ruth ball, are valued at $200,000 to $600,000, based on market conditions.

The Scottsdale Police Dept. and Silent Witness are offering an $11,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the thief. The SPD can be reached at 480-312-5000, while Silent Witness can be contacted at 480-WITNESS.

I just received a photo signed by !950 Phillies Whiz Kids pitcher Curt Simmons. Curt has always been among the best of his era in terms of responding to autograph requests mailed to him. Sad to say, however, that Simmons autograph was very shaky, looking like a signature of someone with either advanced arthritis or some other strong hand ailment. If you feel that you still want an autograph from him, my recommendation is to limit it to one item and send flats only.
