Johnny Groth, an OF who played in The Show from 1946-60, most notably with the Tigers, died on 8/7 at age 95.

Groth began and ended his MLB career with Detroit. After 3 straight years of September call-ups, Groth was in the Majors to stay in 1949, playing as a regular in the Tigers line-up from then through 1952, leading the AL by playing in 157 games that season. He also remained in the line-up on a steady basis with the Browns (1953) and the White Sox (1954).

He split 1955 between the White Sox and the Senators, then played for the A's in 1956 and part of '57 before being reacquired by the Tigers, where he finished that season as well as his MLB career after the 1960 season.
