Randy Tate, a RHP who went 5-13 as a starting pitcher in his only MLB season with the 1975 Mets, died on 3/25 at age 68.

Adrian Garrett, a LH PH-C-OF with 4 MLB teams during his 8 years in The Show, died on 4/22 at age 78.

Garrett first appeared in the Majors in 1966 with 4 games played for the first Atlanta Braves team. After serving in the military, he returned in 1970, appearing in 3 games with the Cubs. After 2 seasons with Oakland in 1971-72, he was dealt back to the Cubs, playing with them from 1973-75, joining the Angels for the later portion of '75, and remaining there in 1976 before retiring. His brother is 1969 Mets champion Wayne Garrett.

Rennie Stennett, a native of Panama who played mostly 2B and SS for 11 years in the NL, died 5/18 at age 70.

Stennett came to the Bigs during the 1971 season with Pittsburgh, with whom he earned 2 World Series rings (1971 and 1979). After the latter, he played his final 2 seasons with the Giants.

In a game at Wrigley Field in 1975 that I attended, Stennett went 7-for-7 at the plate in a 22-0 annihilation of the Cubs. He became the first (and still only) MLB player to go 7-for-7 in a 9-inning game.

Bobby Schmautz, a RW who scored 271 goals over 13 seasons with 5 different NHL teams, died on 3/28, which was his 76th birthday.

Schmautz wore the sweaters of the Blackhawks, Canucks (twice), Bruins, Oilers and Rockies in his career.

Dwight Siebler, a RHP for the Twins, mostly as a reliever from 1963-67, died on 6/16 at age 83.

Pitching for the University of Nebraska in college, Siebler was the first-ever Cornhuskers hurler to twirl a no-hitter.

Eldon Danenhauer, a right tackle whose pro football career began in the inaugural year of the American Football League, died on 6/23 at age 85.

A physical behemoth at 6-5 and 245, his AFL career ran from 1960-65, all with the Denver Broncos. He appeared in 2 Pro Bowls, and played in every game in 5 of his 6 seasons, starting in the vast majority of them.

Despite his lineman build, he even ran back a kickoff for 11 yards during a game in 1962.

Colt Brennan, a QB who played college football at Hawaii and who was a 6th round pick by the Redskins in the 2008 NFL Draft, died on 5/11 at age 37.
