1980s Wilson/Yankees Tagging?

A question about 1980s Wilson tagging: Photos of Yankee jerseys in another thread show 1985 and 1986 Wilson tags that include the size directly on the Wilson tag in large, red numbers.

I have a Yankees jersey that I suspect might be older than that (the '86 2' strip appears to be replacing an earlier, removed strip tag). In this case the size is indicated seperately in small, black numbers on a small tag added to the right of the Wilson tag, with the size numbers tilted 90 degrees.

Does anyone out there know enough about Wilson/Yankees tagging in the 1980s to either support or refute my suspicion that the jersey I have predates 1986?

Hi Robert,

I believe your Wilson tagging is circa 1986-1989.

1986 seems to be a transitional year for Wilson MLB tagging.
That is, 1986 tagging is different than 1985 tagging.
