    Which Is It Lou?

    Erving game shorts Wilson 86-87

Tremendous home white Wilson Philadelphia 76ers game shorts used by Hall of Fame forward Julius "Dr J" Erving during his final and remarkable 16th consecutive All-Star season.

    Erving game shorts Sand-Knit

The great Julius Erving wore these shorts as his career was winding down with the 76ers. For the majority of his Philly career he wore Wilson shorts (1977-85). The offered cherry red shorts are Sand Knit, so they can be traced to his final two years in the league.

I'm not sayin' these are good, bad or otherwise. But should COAs from the same guy contradict each other?

And Lou...here's a freebie. The Sixers switched to Sand-Knit in 1986-87, Erving's final year. So he wore Sand-Knit for only his last season, not his last two seasons.

    Greg-
Let me understand your post. You are indicateing that the Vintage shorts could not have been worn by Erving, as the team switched to Sand Knit in 1986/7, correct? If this is the case, what are these?

It's my understanding, and from the Sixers shorts I've seen in the past, that both the year and player # should be embroidered in the shorts. Is this your experience, also?

No, I'm not saying they couldn't have been worn by Erving. My point is that Lampson authenticated the Sand-Knit shorts in the AB auction and stated that Erving was wearing Sand-Knit when he retired...which is true. But then he authenticates the Wilson shorts and says they are from his last season. How does one make that leap? Is he basing his opinion of when they were worn, solely on the year tag, totally disregarding the manufacturer's tag that's right beside it?
If the Sixers are wearing Sand-Knit for the 1986-87 season, how does a pair of Wilson shorts from a previous season end up sporting the 86 year tag? I dunno?

I'd certainly be more comfortable with any Sixers Erving piece that had both the year and player number embroidered.
