Re: Yet another Getty Images thread; their $49 offer doesn't work either?

Number9 I just spoke with them and they said they would have no problem selling me an image but the images they are speaking of are very low resolution images to be put in a presentaion or on a website.
When you click on a thumbnail and the bigger version pops up that is what they are selling for $49.
About the size of an index card.

They also told me to get 8x10 or larger go to photofile.com which is a licensed subsidiary of them but are limited to the photos they have.
She told me they are more price friendly.

    8x10's starting at $5.95

Thanks for confirming guys. Sauve, thanks for the info on photofile, looks like they only have a few recent photos and a tiny percentage of what Getty has though. Not of any use to me. Thanks for pointing it out so I could at least check them though.

OT: Getty or other Red Sox Image

        Guys,

I am in the process of getting my 1987 Bruce Hurst Sox jersey framed and am looking for an 8x10 of him. It has the Fenway Anniversay patch so any pic with that patch would be a bonus.

I contacted Getty and they wanted $150. I think I hurt the girl's feelings when I laughed at her. I did apologize though.

Any ideas on where I could come up with an 8x10 of Hurst?

        Thanks.

        Kyle

Off the subject a little but did you buy that Hurst jersey off e-bay a few months ago. If so... nice pickup.

Yes, it was off ebay but I thought I had it more than a few months. Could be wrong. I remember the seller had spelled Hurst's first name "Burst", if that rings a bell.

Re: Getty Images Photo Match Question

Licensing an image on Getty can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars depending on 1) whether the image is royalty-free or rights-managed and 2) your specific usage scenario and term.

You'll notice I said 'licensing' not 'purchasing' an image. You are not buying an image from Getty and do not own it. You are licensing the rights to use the image in a specific way for a predetermined amount of time.

                      Hope that helps.

Re: Getty images. Can anybody purchase..

Getty is pricey too. Not $850.00, but a couple hundred for rights to print.

AP Images is pretty reasonable. I got a 16x20 off there for under $75(shipped).

first you have to set up an account with AP.

Once you did that, log in and find the pic(s) you want (make note of the image number & date).

go into the 'services' tab under your account main page.

There you will find a 'personal use' link. Click that.

This will take you to a list of their partners (Pictopia, Art.com, Replay Photos).

I used Pictopia for mine. - Search each of these for your photos. If they are not available on these 3 sites then you have to submit a 'photo request'. (remember the image number & date? - these are what you will use to make your request)

They will get back to you within 48 hours via e-mail and there they will give your options for sizes and prices, should you choose to buy.

I hope this helps you out. Best of luck.

                                UPDATE:

PICTOPIA is your best bet. If you still cannot find your image there, scroll down and click on the 'photo request' link. Here's where you enter the image details and get pricing.

I thought prices came via e-mail, sorry.
