    100% Nylon Game-Worn Jersey?

This is one of the more interesting tags I've seen in a while.
It's a 1996 Texas Rangers "game used" jersey. Russell Athletic with number/size/year tagging that appears correct. The twist: the material tag reads "100% Nylon". (I know it's somewhat hard to read but I emailed the seller and he confirmed it says "100% Nylon").
Has anyone ever seen a legit 90's era gamer made from Nylon?
    I'm baffled.

    Rudy-
Although the norm had the "100% POLYESTER" tag, the Expos also had the same tag as you show, "100% NYLON" on their road jerseys. When comparing the Polyester material to the Nylon, the Nylon had a much heavier feel. Why a team would incorporate one material over another? I have no idea.

    Re: 100% Nylon Game-Worn Jersey?

In 1996, the Orioles used Nylon home and road jerseys, and Polyester alternates. The Nylon jerseys are extremely heavy and stiff, and must have been miserable on hot summer days. I also have had a pair of 1996 Orioles road pants that were Nylon.

Wow, thanks for the great info.

I originally thought that nylon was one of the tell-tale signs of a retail
jersey. That is, all retail jerseys were nylon and all team-issue jerseys
were necessarily polyester. Apparently this is not the case and
some teams did indeed wear nylon.

I'm assuming polyester 90's era Russell jerseys were not available for
    sale in retail stores?

    thanks again,

    Rudy.

    Rudy:
Not necessarily. 1994-vintage Orioles alternate black pullover jerseys are one exception to this rule. The gamers had neck tags, and at least some 100% poly tagged pieces made it into stores.
