Question about Blood on pants and Steiner New Holograms
I just won a pair of 1991 Don Mattingly game used road pants. Inside the waistband are the letters "bl". Does anyone know if they would mark pants with blood stains on them with these letters? Let me know if you might know. I included some pictures.
Also, not sure if it has been posted, but Steiner now includes a hologram with a number and a matching number on the certificate.

Re: Question about Blood on pants and Steiner New Holograms
does it mention that on the Steiner LOA?
speaking of writing on pants did anyone see that Yankees Tanyon Sturtze uniform selling on Ebay awhile back, the pants had "F--- You" written in them?

Re: Question about Blood on pants and Steiner New Holograms
just thinking outside the box:
is it possible the "bl" is a "19" upside-down?
if so, what significance would the 19 have? Dion James wore #19 in 1992, but no Yankee wore 19 in 1991.
or does "bl" stand for "blood leg"?
and is it blood for certain? could the spots be tobacco juice?
any other ideas?

Re: Question about Blood on pants and Steiner New Holograms
It could be a 19, but every pair that had a number in it was written right side up.
Could be blood, could be tobacco, not sure there. I was trying to make a connection.
Appreciate your help.

Re: Question about Blood on pants and Steiner New Holograms
It's possible they would mark pants that had blood. I don't know if they still do it, but they used to remove a basketball player from the game if got a cut that bled. If his jersey had blood on it, he'd have to change before he could return. In other words, some leagues took blood seriously.
