Cardinals with new letter bordering?

I'm watching the Cardinals/Mets game right now, and I noticed that the Cardinals have a gold border around the nameplate letters & the jersey number. Is this new? I've never noticed it before

I know that the Red Sox did the same thing at the start 0f 2005... I think it's some sort of new thing that some teams are doing when they take the field following a World Series victory... and it's only for opening day... don't recall if the White Sox did the same last year.

Yep, that's the gold I was talking about. So they're only wearing these jersey's with the gold for tonight?

They're wearing them for the first three games against the Mets... then they'll go back to their regular jerseys. I believe they're wearing the WS Champion sleeve patch on their home jerseys all season.
