I'm looking for game used bats and other items from Darrell Porter's career. If you have anything please e-mail price and description (pictures if available) to kulynychfamily@verizon.net.
I have a 77-79 LV M110, UC, hammered use, blank knob, natural. I paid $140 for it, would want that out of it. Let me know if you want me to take some pics.
I just wanted to thank those who have responded. I've been able to secure 3 Porter bats from this ad so far. If anyone else has anything to move please let me know.
Momen, thanks for the offer on the helmet but I'm going to pass at this point.
abe;
pardon my curiousity, but doesn't the helmet fall in the catagory of "other items" or it's too much? hey, i like to make a little off the stuff i have too not just give it away, if that is the case. we are all in the same boat; sell something to get something else and at the same time make a little or break even.
You are definitely right, the helmet definitely falls into the category of "other items". As we talked about last year when you offered me the helmet I have never found any photos of Porter wearing a helmet when he was catching. All I've been able to find show him using his cap with his mask, no helmet. Honestly, if I could find any evidence of him wearing a flapless helmet with Texas I would buy the helmet.
Ok. Maybe It Is Not A Porter Helmet. For Batting He Used A Helmet With A Flap. Now, Possibly Someone Else Wore It? I Don't Know. I Bought It Years Ago As A Porter Helmet. Maybe It Goes Farther Back Then His Playing Days.
In Doing Some Research, I Find Something Interesting. I Noticed The Logo Does Not Match That Of The Ruben Sierra Game Used Cap I Have In That The Colors Are Reversed. The Logo On The Cap Is Red Over White; The Helmet's Logo Is White Over Red! That Logo Was Used In 85 And Prior. This Is Who I Found That Wore #17:
Ellis Valentine-85
Mickey Rivers-79-84
Jim Fregosi-73-77
In 78, Doc Ellis Wore 17 So He Is Ruled Out Being A Pitcher.
