Great stuff Craig....you're lucky I am not a Des Moinian or I would be your major competition. I just wish that Lincoln stuff wasn't so difficult.

I went to the local antique show today and made some major scores. I'll post later when I get a chance to take photos and scans.

Okay here is a sampling of some of the items I picked up at the antique show today....Got there about 3:00 PM - I usually get there at 9:00 AM, but my kid had karate class today and we told him we'd take him to Chuck E Cheese afterward so by the time we got out of there and dropped him off at Grandma's house we got to the show very late...the place was so dead you could hear a pin drop in there....I went around and asked every dealer if they had any baseball items and in the first row I was getting the same usual responses of "I have some at home, but I didn't bring it" or "You're too late, I already sold it this morning". About a third of the way through the room I was having no luck until I happened upon a guy who showed me a bunch of 1939 baseball stamp first day covers...I love these things and I picked out the coolest one with the Baseball Centennial cachet....he then showed me that he had one autographed by Al Simmons and he wanted $275 for it....I wasn't even sure what a Simmons autograph sells for so I passed...then I was looking through some of his other stuff and found the 1904 Burr McIntosh New York Highlanders photo...major score!!!

The guy kept trying to talk my wife into buying the Al Simmons auto, but I winked at her to let her know I didn't really want it. we moved along and as I was looking through a pile of postcards my wife got ahead of me and said she had something for me so I followed her up the aisle where an old lady from Missouri had a 1940-50s Wilson baseball uniform and a basketball uniform....she wanted $9.00 for the pair - can't pass that up.

Found a postcard dealer in the next aisle over who had a lot of interesting Nebraska town team real photo postcards, but he wanted way too much for them, but I did manage to pickup this very nice 1905 U of Minnesota rppc of the football team in action - cheap at $8.

Also picked up a Jack Dempsey v Jess Willard postcard from him for a whole dollar, but I didn't scan it. Moved on to another dealer with lots of postcards and once again a great selection of Nebraska town team cards, but even more high priced than the last guy, but I did pick up 3 snapshot photos from Briggs stadium 1962 and a neat position pin.

It was starting to get very close to the closing time and I spent too much time talking to the gal from Tilden who knows Richie Ashburn's neice. The same neice who has at least 3 of Richie's major league uniforms including the one from his rookie season - How to get my hands on those??? Finally pried myself away so I could make a quick trip down the final two aisles and ran into an old lady who had some advertising items...no baseball items, but I talked her down on a c1940s Walter Hagen Lucky Strike sign. I was kind of hoping that I got a deal, but wasn't sure....googled it and found only one sale of the same sign in a Hunt's auction from 1999 and let's just say that I am very happy

Overall a great day. I had laid off of the show for the last 3 or 4 shows because it was the same dealers with the same stuff and I wasn't really finding anything...today I walked away happy...oh yeah I also made contact with a fellow who has a Nebraska Indians postcard that I need and he's going to call me.

Whoops....forgot I picked this one up too...I know nothing about football tradecards, but I thought it might be good trade bait.

Damn Dan!! Sweet day, congrats!! Major scores on the Highlanders photo (not sure what that goes for these days??) and the Hagen sign. Is the Hagen sign cardboard or tin?

    Re: May Pick-Ups

It's cardboard....it's exactly like the one in this old auction.

This could be big for a golf collector. I know a guy who focuses on golf memorabilia. I'll ask him what he thinks.

dan there was a major post card auction in cedar falls about a month ago with only a few baseball items, my old man get the fliers from this auction house. the ones that were in it were exceptional. included were 2 nebraska indian ball teams and 5-6 rose co post cards. i had planned on getting ahold of you about the auction but my wife unfortunatly misplaced the flier while i was out, i believe on purpose lol, and i cant for the life of me remember the auction houses name. there were great images of the flier and if i find it i will surly get it to you. great pickup.

    keep sharing

Thanks Craig, I would like to see that. I'm guessing there are some Nebraska Indians postcards that I have not seen before.
