Lightbulb 1975 Red Sox jerseys w/ or w/o patch?

Can anyone clear up when and for how long the Red Sox wore that special patch on the left sleeve of their jerseys?!? I believe that it was just worn in 1975?!? Were they removed by the team?!? Home and road jerseys?!? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated here...

    Thanks,
    Roger

Dave, maybe I can help. The best I can determine, the Red Sox wore the Massachusetts Bicentennial patch ONLY on their home jerseys during the 1975 season. Some photos I've seen have the patch on the right sleeve while in some other photos, like a 1975 Red Sox team photo I own, shows the patch on the left sleeve. To complicate the issue even more, some home jerseys DID NOT have the patch at all.

The Red Sox definately DID NOT wear the patch during the 1975 World Series.

The 1975 Red Sox sleeve patch issue is as muddied as the St.Charles river.

I have attached a scan of a Johnny Pesky jersey that I own.

the 75 red sox patch has always been a good topic, my 75 rick miller road jersey has no trace of a patch. Jeff

Probably shouldn't be saying this but I indirectly became aware the Red Sox getting their locker room "hit" while visiting one AL city in 1975. I do remember seeing a few of those and they did NOT have the patch. In fact the 1975 road knit was about as plain a jersey as I have ever seen. Plain one-ply block "BOSTON" on front and plain one-ply numbers on the back. No piping.

For the record I had absolutely nothing to do with this but I was an active GU collector at the time and so happened to be offered a couple of these in later years. I finally got one of the guys to tell the story but even his version was 2nd hand ("I know a guy who..."

TRIVIA: Yaz lost all of his jerseys in this heist so he had to wear #42 for one game.

The Red Sox wore the Bicentennial patch ONLY on the home white jerseys for the 1975 AND 1976 seasons. The patch was NOT worn on the road gray jerseys in 1975 or 1976.

The Red Sox did NOT wear the patch on their home jerseys during the 1975 ALCS or the 1975 World Series games.

I have a 1975 Fred Lynn rookie home game used jersey and I concur with Rose 14.
