    Yankwood,

Why do you think this is a store model bat?

L5 sound like a legit bat model to me. Now if it was stamped JA5 it would be a different story.

Additionally I don't think store model block letter bats (players who did not sign a contract with HB) were offered for sale.

I'm an Adcock fan and collector, hence my Number9 forum name, and while I don't know as much about bats as either of the previous two posters, a 33-inch bat seems really short for Joe. Both the Adcock bats for sale at Mears are 35 inches long or slightly more. Joe was a big strong, lanky country boy.

    Re: Adcock.....Look out!!!!!!!!

    Hi guys,

I kind of thought I should chime in on this thread since I originally placed the bid. I was thinking that there was a chance that a mis-measurement or a typo had occured hence my quick bid.

I have since verified with Jim Caravello that all of Adcock's orders (regardless of model number) were 35"-36" in length.

I'm pretty sure this is likely an index or prostock bat, but is still a professional model and is one that he ordered so I am planning on bidding again later in the auction just not to the degree that I originally did.

    Thanks

It is a 1961-64 era pro model bat. Question is if it is a Bob Adcock (1964 minor leaguer) or Joe Adcock.

I told him I had a doubt that Adcock would have used a 33 inch bat, or that many, if any 33 inch bats were used in the majors at that time frame.

What team/league did Bob Adcock play for?

He played for Tampa of the Florida State league, and Jamestown of the New York-Pennsylvania League.
