    Furillo bat?

Anyone ever see the "donated by the Dodgers" thing before?

    Re: Furillo bat?

    Hi Jim--

This bat has correct 1951-1957 center labeling and the 3rd variation of 1951-57 barrel labeling. Although The photo of the knob end is at a difficult angle for review, apparently missing, however, is a model number on the knob which has been stamped on professiional model Adirondack bats from 1946 forward. You may want to contact the seller and get clarification on this issue.

Additionally of note, is that a review of Furillo's corresponding H & B factory records shows that he was consistent in his use of 35 inch bats --- from 4/26/41 through 4/19/60 he made approximately 100 orders of H & B bats, totalling approximately 840 bats. With the possible exception of one order of 36 inch bats in 1950 , ALL H & B bats ordered by Furillo were 35 inches in length. This bat is described as being 33.5 inches in length.

No specific information on the 'sweet spot' stamping... however the possibility exists that if the stamping was applied at the time of manufacture, which seems likely, the Dodgers made purchases of bats to donate to local youth leagues and youth organizations.
