Re: Players using others players bats or other equipment
No photos to post, but a couple of funny stories.
I had several of Jay Bell's bats, both DBacks and Pirates, for him to sign a few years back, and one of the Pirates bats had '18' written on the knob and barrel end. I asked Jay why, as I knew he'd always worn either '3' or '33', and he said, "Van Slyke". "Andy Van Slyke?" "Yeah. He used to take my bats and put his number on them." If the opportunity ever presents itself, I'd like to get Van Slyke to sign the bat, too.
I picked up a bat from a clubhouse guy down in Tucson, at the DBacks' ST facility a few years ago. Tony Womack had borrowed the team's then-First Base coach's fungo bat for bp, and had put a small crack in it, right on the label, and then returned it. So the coach took a black sharpie, and inscribed the bat, "To Tony Dickhead. Happy Fungo Hitting! Robin Yount". It's a nice sig, too, and definitely a unique inscription.

Re: Players using others players bats or other equipment
I bought a Brady Anderson game-used bat several years ago. A year or so ago, I went to a signing to have him autograph it. He held it up, looked at the bat marks, and said "Someone must have borrowed this...the ball marks look like someone who's right-handed was using it." I'm still not sure if he was jerking me around. But if someone else DID use it, I'll just assume it was Ripken.

Re: Players using others players bats or other equipment
on getty theres a picture of prince fielder using bill halls bat. It has hall's tape job and handle and everything. In one shot you can see the barrel and clearly see its not prince's signature model.

Re: Players using others players bats or other equipment
Prince has been using Joe Dillion's bats lately too. He used to use Carlos Lee's bats also.
Prince has used everybody's bat at one time or another. I don't think he even looks before he leaves the dugout...just grabs which ever bat is closest.Scott Harpt
