New photo match thread
Well, it's been a while since the last photo match thread surfaced, and with all the great new "finds" that have turned up lately I figured we might as well start another one. So post away!
Here are a few of the helmets I have that I don't think I've shared before. I'm certain about the Terry Steinbach, Vernon Wells and Benito Santiago ones but I'm not quite 100% sure about the Jose Canseco yet. BTW, sorry for the large file size of the Canseco pic; the thumbnail unfortunately doesn't show a lot of details. I have an 8x10 of Canseco that was taken by a friend of mine at Fenway during the last series of the '95 season which shows the other side of the helmet and the pine tar appears to match too. I'll try and scan it in the next few days."The knowledge that this guy has in his head, some of you would never be able to comprehend."

Re: New photo match thread
So I just noticed that the other thread was still alive earlier this month. Oops. Anyway, thanks Rudy. I haven't really come across an early Jays gamers that I loved. So, no, I don't have any at the moment. As for the others, some I got off of eBay, but I've gotten quite a few from people who were selling jerseys and bats. I just happened to ask if they had any old helmets. Fortunately, some did and sold them to me at decent prices.

Hey man, if you ever want to sell the Canseco helmet, please let me know. I have been dying to own one. Let me know if you ever get rid of it.

Re: New photo match thread
That Canseco photo looks pretty conclusive to me. That's gotta be the real deal.

Re: New photo match thread
Todd, will do. I just picked it up so it could be a while before (or if) I replace it with another Sox gamer. It'd be a hard one to beat.
Jason, I feel pretty good about it. It is a size 7 3/8, which according to some of the posts here is the right size for him. (I looked it up before I bought it.) I'm just sort of picky about calling things a match, I guess. I'll post a scan of that other pic this weekend. Anyway, I appreciate the feedback from you Canseco guys.

Jason,
You got yourself a deal on that Caseco Red Sox helmet, I remember seeing it listed on ebay and the seller stated that it was a Jason Varitek helmet, I could not find any pics of Tek with a helmet with the number 33 on the brim so I passed on it. Great job in finding that photo match!

Re: New photo match thread
Thanks, Bobby! The seller and I emailed each other 6 or 7 times over the course of a few days. I initially contacted him with a question about the interior clock. After reading his reply and doing a little research I felt pretty certain that it was Jose's. Long story short, the guy was really cool and although I had been looking to obtain a nice Sox helmet, $650 was out of my price range. So I offered to make a post on GUU on his behalf so he could sell it as a Canseco. Believe it or not, I was up front in mentioning that I thought he might actually be able to sell it as a Canseco at a higher price than $650. In the end, and really without me asking, he offered to lower his price to fit my budget, which was $250. It was very generous of him to do, I thought.
