1990's Cincinnati Bengals Ki Jana Carter Jersey Question
I am reaching out for some help from any Bengals collectors out there. I recently picked up a 1996 Ki Jana Carter "Game Worn" jersey since I am a big Penn State fan and he was a beast in college. Upon further research, I do not think the nameplate font is correct. The jersey itself looks good, but it has a more square font which looks to be more consistent with older Bengals jerseys based on my minimal research. I have attached some pictures of the jersey, as well as an image from 96 with more round font. Any input would be appreciated!!

Re: 1990's Cincinnati Bengals Ki Jana Carter Jersey Question
The one photo shows what appears to be the outline of what was once a second tgag (exclusive tag/year) If that is what the outline is, I'd be wary.

The font on the lettering looks horrible.

Also noticed the Champion logo on the sleeves is all blue in the game photo.

Re: 1990's Cincinnati Bengals Ki Jana Carter Jersey Question
I noticed the same thing about the font and the Champion logo. I was able to find these couple pictures from 1996 showing the white style Champion logo so it must have been an option at least for these jerseys.
Here is also the same "terrible" font from 1996, only on the home blacks.
And similar font on the road whites in 1995.
I checked the regular season rosters and it does not look like the Bengals had another #32 on the team and other years they wore this style. Hard to say if it is legit or not.

Re: 1990's Cincinnati Bengals Ki Jana Carter Jersey Question
I agree with the missing tag. I have not been able to find another Bengals jersey with the tag still on it to see exactly what would have been on it.
I do not have the jersey in hand yet so I am not sure if it is the pictures that make the nameplate look brighter or if in fact it is newer material. Does anyone know if the Bengals used to remove nameplates before getting rid of the jerseys? I know the Steelers used to do this in the 80's.
Either way for the price I figured I would give it a whirl. Do you guys think it is as least a team issued jersey?

Re: 1990's Cincinnati Bengals Ki Jana Carter Jersey Question
Oh OK. I didn't realize other players had the white Champion logo on the white jersey sleeves. I looked at all the Carter cards on COMC website that show him wearing the white jersey and all the jerseys had the blue Champion logo.
Here is a Carter jersey that was for sale here that has the tag on the bottom https://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_...ad.php?t=42090
Looks to be a pretty big size difference if the one sold here was legit.

Re: 1990's Cincinnati Bengals Ki Jana Carter Jersey Question
It does the one photo matched to the 1995 game is a size 46.
The one here is a size 42. Carter is listed at 5"10 227lbs. To me a size 42 is too small. Not to mention the size of the pads Carter wore for a 42 to fit over that is not realistic.
I think the Carter is a blank or issued jersey with a Carter name plate added. Also that portion of the missing tag is odd. I have seen some very best jerseys that have those tags intact. The Carter looks far from beat up from the pics.
Anyways just an opinion.
Keep in mind you can always return it. After all it's ebay.

Re: 1990's Cincinnati Bengals Ki Jana Carter Jersey Question
Thank you for the link of the other Carter jersey and the info regarding the size. I could not find a picture showing him wearing the white style Champion logo either, and I would definitely agree on the size difference being off.
I looked more into the Bengals rosters and Mitchell Price wore #32 in the early 90's. He looks like he was a smaller guy so I bet this jersey is one of his that someone removed the year tag from, and put the Carter nameplate on it.
