Terrific pickup at a unbelievable price. Turn the jersey inside out, are the back numbers and "BOSTON" applied using a single stitch method? I ask because I believe that is the way they applied the numbers and letters in 2004 - Retail jerseys are double-stitched.

So the number is heat pressed together red and black then stitched..I have red stitching and black on the numbers.

FANTASTIC ADVICE about the lettering on the inside of the jersey!

Have done a lot of research and reading about these jersey's and never came across that little piece of info.

Yet another reason why this is THE BEST resource for the true GU/memorabilia collector.

I was WRONG in this thread. I pulled my authenticated 2004 Red Sox jersey out of it's frame and took these scans. As we can see, the numbers and letters are double-stitched.

Look at this listing from the same seller. He sold 2 what look to be game issued verdero/controlling Manny Ramirez bats and two Akadema Gloves with Manny Ramirez's name stitched on them....for $140. You think the seller just has no idea what he has?

I asked him why he was selling the items so cheap he never responded to that question. Funny story the jersey I bought was delivered to the wrong address this past Wed. The house that it was delivered to the people returned it to the post office Thursday and I picked it up on Fri. What are the chances..

He must have stole all of these items from a collector. I can't believe he sold (2) fielding gloves and (2) bats for $140. That is just ridiculous.

Maybe its just Manny being Manny, and selling his "junk." Or he had someone see his items for him.

Was gonna sell it changed my mind gonna hold onto it and when I get some extra cash send it and have it looked at. Maybe Mears they are pretty good.

Changed your mind again?? Is there any concrete proof of this jersey being game used?? You bought it for $55 question its authenticity on this site and then list it as game used to sell it at a huge profit? Don't you think that any potential buyers deserves to know that there is no proof whatsoever that this jersey was worn in an actual game? That it is more likely to be a team issued jersey than it is a game used? Unless you have this photomatched it is deceptive to list it as game used IMO.
