    Cardinals 1982 World Series Trophy

Current offering in Hunt's auction, 1982 World Series Full Size Owners trophy:

Based on previous full-size owner trophies that have entered the hobby, should the center baseball have team logos or similar design on it?

Previous trophies including a 1996 Tim Raines sold by Mastro and a 1984 Lou Whittaker sold in Lelands all had some kind of Logo on center ball.

    Any insight is appreciated.

Here's a shot of the markings on the center ball from the 1984 Lou Whitaker trophy Lelands previously sold:

For what it's worth, I once owned Jeff Lahti's 1982 Cardinals trophy (smaller player version), and it had no engraving on the ball.

Re: Cardinals 1982 World Series Trophy

    I'm confused.

The trophy in question from Hunts is the FULL SIZE OWNERS TROPHY, not the smaller PLAYER VERSION.

The Tim Raines auctioned by Mastro, the Leyritz auctioned by Grey Flannel, the Thurman Munson previously auctioned by Hunts and the Whitaker auctioned by Lelands were the full size trophies (same as Hunts current Cardinals), not the smaller palyer versions. It's important to note that all 4 had LOA's from the player (or in Munson's case, his wife and the original receipt). All of these full size versions had information noted on the center ball, however, the current Hunts Cardinals is void of anything.

Here's a shot of the Munson Hunts previously sold:

Can anyone with insight to these full size trophies possibly shed some light on the current 1982 Cardinals offering?

    Thanks.

the current hunt's trophy is said to be a "full size owner's trophy". does an owner get a different trophy than a player? are the full-size ones different than the smaller player versions? i don't know. what i do know is that there are many differences between hunt's trophy and rob steinmetz'.

what i find a little odd is that the hunt trophy seems to be a 27 yr old trophy without a single blemish or any tarnish at all. it looks as if it was it made yesterday. then again, maybe the consigner had it professionally cleaned prior to putting it up for auction.

Just saw this thread. If anyone's at FanFest today (where the Hunt Auction is), the original 1982 Cardinals WS trophy is on display literally right around the corner from the Hunt Auction area. It's in a case with the 1967 and 2006 trophies.
