    RARE 1926 50th anniversary

    Hi
I just bought these nice 1926 50th anniversary of the national league. These are team composite photographs that show nine individual uniformed ballplayers that were on the old judge cards from the 1880's. The last ones that i seen were a group of 4 in the 1999 barry halper auction that sold for $3,450. So they have to be rare. The teams are the cubs,Knickerbockers and the tigers. The ones i have show ware and some one wrote the names of the players under the photo, but who ever did was along time ago because its perfect handwriting. So if anyone wants to make any offers please e-mail me at boblee89@yahoo.com Also the knickbocker has bumps in one of the photos. I dont know from what.

    Hi
I think thats how they made them back in the 20's. But i was also wondering if anyone knows what a good asking price for them is. Thanks

I think you should consign these to a major auction house.. Mastro probably has room for their may/june? collector's classic auction.

They are probably too nice for the Classic auction. I would hold out for premier.

    Hi
Why would the premier be better. And would goodwin & co be any good for these because i see they deal with vintage baseball items.

I have noticed some pretty premier items in the Classic Collector's auctions recently and I think these would do just fine in that auction....it's already too late to get it into the next Mastro premier or the REA so if you're looking to get rid of them now you could probably go with the Mastro CC.

Otherwise ebay is an option - these IMO would do just fine if placed in the proper category.

I don't disagree with you Dan. My thought was that items don't "qualify" for the premier auction unless they are exceptional and valuable. There are some very nice items in the classic, but you maaaaay get more in the premier because the fact they made the cut says these are high end pieces of memorabilia. Ebay is an option, but could be a gamble unless you have an extremely good idea of value. I MUCH prefer REA and would recommend you email scans to Rob Lifson for a value assessment. He is a very straight shooter and very pleasant to deal with.

I would recommend REA over all other auction houses too, but the deadline for this years auction is way past, and he has had only one auction/year for at least the last couple of years, and I think he wants to turn them over right away. Amazing that these photos showed up in a local estate auction as there just can't be many of them floating around.

    Re: RARE 1926 50th anniversary

    Hi
I contacted him and he said he does not know what the real value is for them. But he gave me a link to his last auction where they had one that sold for $700. Now im thinking of selling them on ebay at least one but i dont know what to put them under. What do you guys think i should put them under. Something that alot of vintage people look at. Thanks for all the help.
