    1950s game used bat find curt flood wally post

    Found these two old bats from batboy in 1950s...both are cracked..the flood has been repaired with nails....the knobs are marked h43 on the flood...and k55 on the wally post....they are from a game here in thomasville nc...either exhibition Reds game in 1957 or when flood played with the hitoms...really cool bats. ..just wanting info on them...thx

    Here is some info on the Flood bat. HOF member Curt Flood ordered H & B model H43 only twice during this label period -- on 7/9/1956 (6 bats) and 8/23/1956 ( 2 bats.) This bat came from the order dated 7/9/1956 as his name is in block letter and he did not have an endorsement contract at the time. His personal H & B records notes that his signature model bat was first produced 8/23/1956, the 2-bat order mentioned above. This bat is certainly one of the earliest Flood bats to surface in the hobby (most likely the earliest) as the 7/9/1956 order was only the second order documented in his records. The first order documented in Flood's records is dated 4/24/1956 for six bats model M159 that would also have a block letter name .

    Thanks for that really great info...the flood bat has a lot of little tiny nail repairs. Should I try and remove the black tape around the wally post bat or leave it...

    Curt flood played minor league ball here in nc for the thomasville toms in1956, he also made short stint for the Reds in in 1956 ...the man I got the bats from said the Reds playwd an exhibition game here in nc...so both the bats came from that game..he was a batboy......

    Hello, is the Post bat for sale...I know it is a long shot...but just curious...I have 2 myself...one uncracked...and one cracked and repaired with a bunch of vintage nails...
