Help with a Early 80's White Sox Helmet
Hi All,
I had a question about a early 80's white sox batting helmet. Did the white sox put players numbers on their helmets during this time?
I have a helmet that came from Julio Cruz. He said that it was his when he played with Chicago but has no numbers or anything to identify it. Also, the only pictures I can find with Julio wearing a helmet show him with earflaps on his helmet and this doesn't have any flaps.
Thanks
Eric

Re: Help with a Early 80's White Sox Helmet
He very well could have worn this flapless helmet during practice/ BP. During Cruz's career (including today), all batters are required to have at least one ear flap on their helmet while they bat during game situations.
Neat item!

Players were grandfathered in as to if they wanted earflaps or not. It is possible that a player in the 80's didn't have to have them.

Thanks Guys!
Did the White Sox put players numbers on their helmets during the time Julio would have been there. 1983-86.
Thanks again
Eric
