Need some help from the Ripken collectors. Are Black Louisville Slugger P72's game model bats or were they also used for promotions? The example I came across has nothing on the knob - all foil stamping in silver, no line under the 125. Bat is signed in gold. Shows no use at all. I can try to get some pics. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The promotional bats should have the line under the 125.

I've participated in numerous public and private signings with Cal and the majority of the bats I noted he signs do not have the underline beneath the 125....I'll have the opportunity to pay closer attention to this in Valley Forge this weekend (Hunt/Philly Show).
Here is an example of a bat from a Steiner signing (current ebay item; not mine) http://cgi.ebay.com/CAL-RIPKEN-JR-Si...item5885894ab0 |

Thanks for the responses. I think I will stay away from the particular bat I am being offered. Any clear cut way to tell the difference between the two? (game issued vs. promotional).

I purchased a black LVS P72 from Steiner back in 2002 I think it was. It had the line under the 125 and I had it signed in person at the National that year. Mine is 35" long but I dont know the weight.
Maybe the ones they are getting now, dont have the line?? stlbats stlbats@bellsouth.net |
