From the photo it appears that it is either a Butler Finish as noted above (unfinished handle w/ Hornsby barrel) or a Hickory barrel (which is darker than Hornsby brown) w/ natural or possibly unfinished handle.

Here is another photo of finishes for comparison.

    Re: roberto alomar

From what I can tell he used the R205 in 1990-1991 & 1996-1997. The early bats were Walker finish 34.5in/33oz and the later ones were 34in/32oz Butler finish.

Just a note, the Walker finish is a Galen (wine) handle/ Hickory barrel. I don't know if we have a name for the half Hickory. The Butler is half Hornsby.

A Walker Finish is a galen handle with a hickory barrel. Here is a link to a great 'Expert's Corner' blog by Jim Caravello that describes and illustrates the various H & B finishes.

We only have Alomar's records from 1985 through 1997-- maybe Brian can fill in after that.

Robbies first order of R205 is documented 8/3/90 as a member of the Padres (35 in / 34 oz / Flame treated Finish / 6 bats.) In 1990 and 1991 he ordered R205 with dimensions of 34.5 in / 33 oz / Walker finish -- 36 bats (Padres 1990 and Blue Jays 1991.) In 1996 with the Orioles, 34 inch / 31 and 32 oz with Butler finish (12 bats) and Walker finish (11 bats).
