I saw that when I went through their auction a few days ago. I was happy to see that one that was consistent with images popped up. Not sure, if I'll be able to afford it though with my recent spending spree and the finishing of my getting my Christmas presents for everyone around here.

That's exactly what I thought, but honestly I don't trust Lampson too much, so I think I may have to pass on going after this jersey unless someone can show evidence of the Rays wearing a number on the front of their jersey during the 1998 season.

Perhaps what we're missing is that same, extra special "something" that causes them to have a 2006 Miguel Tejada road jersey with year tagging (which the Orioles haven't done since 1999) and no Elrod Hendricks memorial #44!

i too cannot find a single image showing the devil rays wearing front numbers in 1998.



as well, AMI recently sold a 1998 tampa bay wade boggs jersey that had no front numbers:

historic's jersey already has 8 bids on it and lampson has given it a "final impressive grade of 9" so maybe we're missing something here.

Hi,

I was recently looking at this jersey and was trying to match it up with some photos from Boggs in 1998. I found images on Getty Images showing the jersey and everything looks consistent, except for the #12 under the team logo. I can't seem to find that anywhere on Getty Images. I know there are quite a few Devil Rays collectors on here, so I'd figure and check if anyone had some input, even though the auction is less than 2 hours from close...
