Re: Stephen Strasburg Baseball Card 1-1 $38,200
the sale is now going thru Huggins and Scott Auctions.
one of the benefits of going thru a large auction house is knowing that all who bid are serious. i guess the seller had enough with the fake biddings.

Being an avid Ebay junkie... I think this guy had the card listed for a 50k buy it now and it didn't sell. Then, the card relisted, went to 500k. Then it disappeared. I have a feeling that either he doesn't really have this card, or more likely, he has friends that are bidding the card up trying to get that one sucker to outbid them at some ridiculous price.
On a side note, maybe the 2-2 start for Strasburg made the high bidder rethink the bid and back outLeave a comment:

After crossing $500K, the auction has been restarted with an opening bid of .99 cents. From half a mil to less than a buck -- reminds me of the stock market

Here's an example of a final value fee calculation for an auction-style listing:- You sell an item for $100.00.
- Your final value fee is 9% of the final sale price, which is $9.00.

Re: Stephen Strasburg Baseball Card 1-1 $38,200
$50 is the final value fee. They implemented a new policy in like April or May where the FVF is capped at $50 I think.
Somebody can double-check, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.Leave a comment:

Re: Stephen Strasburg Baseball Card 1-1 $38,200
So... let's say hypothetically the item sells, but the high bidder does not pay. The seller's credit card gets hit for $20K, and he needs to go through the "non-paying bidder" process to recoop his fees.
Another thought is how many people have linked a credit card to ebay that has a limit of $20K or higher?Leave a comment:

This is not a defense of spoof bidding, but when you list a $200 item with a Buy It Now price of $50K, you invite this kind of abuse.
And of course once the item gets any kind of media attention, you're sunk.

Re: Stephen Strasburg Baseball Card 1-1 $38,200
12% of the first $50, $6
6% of the next $950, $57
2% of the final $999,000, $19,980
Total Final Value Fee on $1mil - $20,043.00

Re: Stephen Strasburg Baseball Card 1-1 $38,200
The bid history has a lot of retracted bids. My guess is the winning bidder won't pay and will only get a non-paying strike.
Since eBay buyers can't get negatives, the seller should bring a lawsuit against the winning bidder for damages (which rarely happens).

This auction has become a joke but for those that still believe all bids are real, this card is getting plenty of publicity on the news.
Isn't all publicity good?Leave a comment:
