Re: Dr. J's personal collection going to auction...
Lot #12 - 1977 game shorts. Would have been nice to see the tagging, like they did with the last pair of 1977 game shorts.
From previous auction (77 shorts).
Lot #25 & #26 – 1985 & 1986 AS rings. Why would the 1986 ring fetch twice as much as the 1985 ring? The 1986 AS game was in Dallas, not LA.
Lot #31 – game worn warm-up pants. These look to be retail pants, not game worn warm-ups. No snaps or proper tagging. Compare to lot #48. Could buy these type of pants for $60 in the NBA catalog (80s)
Lot #38 – game worn warm-ups. No Sixers logo patch on the jacket and tagging looks pristine.
Lot #54 – multi-signed ABA ball. Looks like the ball was signed by the participants in 1997 NBA game, not former ABA players.
Lot #57 – game used shorts. No 76ers patch and pristine tagging.
Lot #58 – game worn shorts. Size 38 for Erving? Compare to lot #23 – size 34.
Lots #59 & #60 – 70s game worn shorts. Would love to know what these are. Not Squires, Nets or Sixers shorts.
Lot #66 – signed shorts. I think these go with the Coca-Cola jersey (Lot #5).
Lot #67 – withdrawn. This was a signed Sand-Knit game jersey that only had a 6 on front – no SIXERS. I think this jersey goes along with Lot#38 and Lot#57. Possibly used in the Dr. J.’s Basketball Stuff video. See below pic. No SIXERS on jersey, no patch on shorts.

How did the Pittsburgh Pythons uniform sell for 6,200 and this jewel only get 3,800 ?

GFC has always done well with Dr. J. jerseys. They've had multiple Erving jerseys that went between $100-200K.
People went a little crazy in the SCP auction. Over $15K for some obscure plaque? I guess they wanted something (anything) from his collection.Leave a comment:
