I think you are correct on your dating. Attached is a McAuliffe tag that appears on a Senators jersey from the 1957 season. Granted, it is not on a Red Sox jersey, but we should get a better idea of what a McAuliffe tag may have looked like during that era.

I am correct about the dating of the tag on the alleged Williams jersey, no? A 56 McCauliffe tag looked very different.

McCauliffe didn't introduce that style of tag until 1969. Funny how you never see stuff like this on common player jerseys.

Anyone have any thoughts on the authenticity of this jersey? From the pictures it appears to have the correct details of a 56 redsox jersey, but the seller doesn't provide any further info..
