1974 Yogi Berra Game Worn New York Mets Home Uniform

A clutch left-handed hitter with power, Yogi Berra was also an outstanding defensive catcher. He once went a record 148 consecutive games without an error. His offensive and defensive skills combined to make him a three-time MVP in 1951, 1954, and 1955. During his 18 seasons with the Yankees, Berra played in a record 14 World Series, setting records for games played, times at bat, and hits. After retiring as a player, Berra went on to manage both the Yankees and the Mets. Yogi managed both teams to pennants, and became just the third manager in history to accomplish that feat in both leagues. Berra was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
This home pinstripe uniform was worn by Yogi Berra while managing the New York Mets during the 1974 baseball season. The jersey is signed and inscribed on the front by Berra in blue. Jersey is tagged on the front with a Rawlings size 42 wash tag and a "Set 1" flag tag. Also tagged in the collar with a "42 74 8" strip tag. The Mets team patch is sewn on the left sleeve. Jersey exhibits tremendous evidence of game use, in the form of light staining, extensive wash wear, puckering to the back number and logo, and wear to the tagging. The pants are also signed on the front by Berra. They are tagged in the waistband with a size 38 Rawlings wash tag and a "Set 1 #8P 1974" flag tag. There is also a chain-stitched "38 21 74 8" strip tag (indicative of the size, year and Berra's number) in the waistband. These pants exhibits heavy game use, including staining and a team repair. The name "Hoscheit" is also written inside the pants, indicating they were likely sent down to the minors after Berra wore them. A classic all original uniform from one of the game's greatest ambassadors. View Lot Detail page
