    Richie Hebner 1984-1985 H & B Game Used Bat

Richard Hebner was a solid third baseman who had an 18-year career from 1968 to 1985. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets and Chicago Cubs, all of the National League, and the Detroit Tigers of the American League. He was a starter for the Pittsburgh team that won the 1971 World Series. Hebner compiled a lifetime batting average of .276 with 203 home runs in 1908 career games. Hebner was also well-known for his off-season occupation – as a grave digger in a Boston cemetery.
This Louisville Slugger model G105 was manufactured by Hillerich & Bradsby for Richie Hebner as a member of the Chicago Cubs during the final two seasons of his career, 1984-1985. Hebner's uniform number with the Cubs, 18, and the model number of this bat are written on the knob in black marker. This bat shows heavy game use and is loaded with hit marks and ball marks on the barrel. Slight grain separation is evident on the back of the barrel, caused by repeated contact with a pitched ball. An open spiral application of vintage tape extends from the knob approximately 10½ inches toward the barrel, and includes liberal remnants of pine tar on the handle. This bat is 35 inches in length and weighs approximately 34 ounces. This uncracked bat is a nice example from a member of the 1971 World Champion Pittsburg Pirates.
