This blonde ash SAM bat was manufactured in 2001 and used by Sierra that season while a member of the Texas Rangers. The bat shows significant game use, with everything that you could ask for – ball marks, hit marks, cleat marks, rack marks, and a generous application of pine tar extending approximately 10 inches from the knob. The inside of the cupped end of the barrel exhibits the characteristic SAM bat information, and identifies this bat as CAN-1, manufactured on 3/19/01 for Ruben Sierra. This bat also has a very slight, very difficult to see, crack in the handle along the grain approximately 7 inches from the knob. The wood is not displaced at all, and does not affect the display quality of this bat. In 2001, nearing the end of his 20-year career, Sierra hit .291 with 23 home runs.
