Jim Rice 1986-1989 Signed H & B Game Used Bat

The Red Sox' Jim Rice led the AL in home runs three times (1977, 1978, 1983), in RBI twice (1978, 1983), in slugging percentage twice (1977, 1978), and in total bases four times (1977-1979, 1983). He also picked up Silver Slugger awards in 1983 and 1984 (the award was created in 1980). Rice hit at least 39 home runs in a season four times, had eight 100 RBI seasons, four seasons with 200+ hits and batted over .300 seven times. He finished his 16-year career with a .298 batting average, 382 home runs , 1451 RBIs, 1249 runs scored, 2452 hits, and 4129 total bases. He was an American League All-Star eight times. In addition to winning the American League MVP award in 1978, he finished in the top 5 in MVP voting five other times (1975, 1977, 1979, 1983, 1986). He is destined to get into the Hall of Fame and may achieve that over the next few years.
This unfinished Louisville Slugger signature model R206 bat was manufactured by Hillerich & Bradsby between 1986-1989. This bat is 35 inches in length and weighs approximately 34 ounces, and perfectly matches Rice's personal H & B records for orders throughout that four-year period. This bat exhibits moderate use with ball marks, hit marks, and rack marks on the barrel. Checking is evidenced on the back of the barrel, the result of repeated contact with a pitched ball. Light pine tar remnants can be seen on the handle of this bat. There is a slight, non-displaced crack on the handle of this bat, approximately 10 inches from the knob, that does not affect the display of this bat at all. Rice's uniform number, 14, is written on the knob of this bat in black marker.
Rice has boldly signed this bat on the sweet spot in black marker, penning an outstanding signature nearly 3¼ inches in length. This is a great bat from one of the premier power hitters in baseball from the 1970s through the mid-1980s, and who hit more home runs for the Red Sox than anyone in history except Ted Williams and Yaz. This bat is accompanied by a LOA from SCD Authentic (D. Bushing / T. Kinunen) and has been graded A7. Check the pictures – this bat displays like a perfect 10.View Lot Detail page
